WoodSpirit Tours had the privilege of visiting the Estacion las Tortugas (The Turtle Station) on the East coast of Costa Rica in March and assisted in the rescue of the eggs of the endangered Leatherback Sea Turtle.
We are organizing a tour to go back in late May or early June to assist the hatchlings as they dig out from their nests deep in the sand, and escort them safely to the ocean so future generations may enjoy contact with these gentle giants of the seas. While the young will be hatching while we are there, we also may be blessed by seeing a few of the mothers as this time of year a some are still returning to these safe, secluded beaches to deposit eggs.
If you would like to participate contact us as soon as possible. The group size is limited to no more than 12 to keep the experience intimate and informal.
